Frequently Asked Question
Which version of PCI DSS should an entity use?
The current version of PCI DSS is v4.0. PCI DSS v3.2.1 is also valid through 31 March 2024, after which that version will be retired. After 31 March 2024, PCI DSS v4.0 will be the only active version.
Compliance questions, including questions about whether it is acceptable to submit a PCI DSS v3.2.1 assessment report after that standard is retired on 31 March 2024, should be directed to organizations that manage compliance programs (for example, payment brands and acquirers).
Contact details for the payment brands can be found in FAQ #1142 How do I contact the payment card brands?
