WAKEFIELD, Mass., 27 August 2014 — In a statement released on 22 August by the United States Secret Service and Department of Homeland Security, a warning was issued that a Point of Sale (POS) malware dubbed “Backoff” may have infected systems in over 1,000 organizations and represents a very real threat to the security of cardholder data in all organizations.
