PCI Security Standards Council Hires Brandy Cumberland to Lead Program Operations

Longtime PCI SSC veteran promoted to Director of Program Operations

WAKEFIELD, Mass., 21 May 2021 — The PCI Security Standards Council (PCI SSC) announced the promotion of Brandy Cumberland to Director of Program Operations at the PCI SSC.  In her new role, Brandy will be responsible for the supervision of the PCI SSC’s Programs Portfolio.

“We are excited for Brandy to take on this important role,” said Lance Johnson, Executive Director of the PCI SSC.  “Brandy brings a wealth of expertise to this position having worked at the PCI SSC for nearly ten years and in the payment industry since 2008.  She is the ideal fit for this job.  Our program operations are such a vital part of our mission as an organization.  They are in good hands with Brandy at the helm.”

Brandy’s work in the payment security industry includes nearly a decade with the PCI SSC’s Assessor Quality Management (AQM) Program.  On the new role, Brandy notes, “My commitment to payment security comes from wanting businesses of all sizes to thrive without the threat of cardholder data breaches distracting them from their visions of success. Over the last seven years as Director of Assessor Quality Management (AQM) Programs, I strived to provide reasonable assurance that baseline standards of quality were met within our assessor population. With this new role, I’m excited to further support the payment community by ultimately ensuring the procedural integrity across the Council’s Programs Portfolio.” Brandy is a PCI Professional (PCIP), an American Society of Quality (ASQ) Certified Quality Improvement Associate (CQIA), and a CISSP.

Brandy will officially start her new role on July 1, 2021 and will report directly to the Executive Director.  Brandy will also Chair the PCI Forensic Investigators (PFI) Working Group and be part of the PCI SSC leadership team.

Previous to working in the payment security industry, Brandy was a retail banking branch manager and a 12th grade International Baccalaureate (IB) English teacher. She and her family live in the Austin, Texas area on the north shores of Lake Travis – just far enough away to enjoy afternoons on the lake and Hill Country sunsets, but close enough to enjoy Austin’s live entertainment scene (especially stand-up comedy or theatre) and fantastic local cuisine. She enjoys photography, all forms of streaming entertainment, and a competitive game night, and looks forward to traveling again soon.
