As AI transforms the payments landscape, industry leaders will gather in Malaysia this November to shape the future of payment security in Asia-Pacific
Singapore, 18 August 2026: The PCI Security Standards Council (PCI SSC) will mark two decades of shaping global payment security when its flagship Asia-Pacific Community Meeting returns to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from 11-12 November 2026 – three years after the city last hosted the event in 2023. Centered around the theme of “Celebrating 20 Years of Progress – and Shaping the Future of Payment Security,” the event brings together banks, retailers, payment service providers, assessors, technology providers and security professionals from across the region and beyond. It arrives at a moment when artificial intelligence is reshaping payments in Asia-Pacific and across the globe, creating new opportunities even as it opens up threats that demand new defences.
Payment fraud and cybercrime continue to evolve, fuelled in part by increasingly sophisticated, AI-enabled attacks that can adapt faster than static defences can respond. For an industry built on consumer trust, the stakes have never been higher, and this year’s edition of the PCI SSC Asia-Pacific Community Meeting is designed to meet that moment head-on.
Twenty years of progress, one new chapter
Since its founding in 2006, the PCI SSC has set the global benchmark for protecting cardholder data. This year’s event honours that legacy while looking firmly ahead, with a full agenda that includes a significant focus on maintaining security in an increasingly autonomous, AI-powered payments ecosystem without losing the human trust that underpins it.
Among the sessions delegates can expect:
- Trust, Scalability and the Future of Payments in an Autonomous World: re-examining key priorities when machines increasingly make the decisions.
- Automated, AI-driven Governance to Reduce Data Fatigue: automating data collection and analysis and delivering real-time insights for continuous compliance assurance.
- AI Agents and Emerging Payment Threats in the Cardholder Data Environment: a close look at the new risk surface introduced by autonomous AI systems and practical strategies to balance rapid technological innovation with safety for both corporations and users.
- Regional Case Studies (India) on a National Approach: enhancing resilience and building defences against cyber threats from a national standpoint.
- Turning PCI Standards into Business Value: reframing compliance as a driver of growth, not just a cost of doing business.
The full programme also covers the increasingly borderless payments ecosystem, recurring vulnerabilities, global ecosystem security and innovative security management strategies.
Keynote: Dr CJ Meadows
Headlining this year’s event is Dr CJ Meadows, globally recognised for her work exploring the intersection of emerging technology, creativity, human behaviour and the future of work. Recognised as one of Asia’s Top 10 Women in IT, Dr Meadows leads the Innovation & Entrepreneurship Center at S P Jain School of Global Management, a Forbes Top 20 International Business School, where she develops growth strategies for IT, enterprise, and design thinking. In her keynote, “Thinking Beyond Technology to Build the Next 20 Years of Trust,” Dr Meadows aims to challenge assumptions, spark imagination, and provide tools to encourage responsible initiatives amidst a rapidly evolving digital world.
20 years of celebration
“Security and trust are inseparable in payments,” said Gina Gobeyn, Executive Director, PCI SSC. “For 20 years, the PCI SSC has helped the industry stay ahead of evolving threats to payment security. Artificial intelligence is now one of the defining challenges of this next chapter. New technology creates real opportunities for the industry but also introduces the potential for new vulnerabilities that will demand new defences. Bringing the industry together in Kuala Lumpur for our anniversary is the right way to confront challenges head-on and shape what comes next.”
